PROGRAMME


Project Read gives young children the gift of reading. SINDA Volunteers visit the children at their homes and read to them, with the aim of helping them to overcome reading difficulties and to cultivate the love of reading.

DETAILS


Objective

  • To equip Indian Children with adequate reading skills
  • To cultivate the habit of reading from a young age

Programme Description

  • Each child is matched to a trained volunteer
  • Volunteers will visit the homes of families once a week for 1 hour for a period of 6 months

Qualified Volunteers

  • SINDA Volunteers will be trained before going into the homes of the child.

STUDENT

ELIGIBILITY


  1. Children between the ages of 4 to 9
  2. Children scoring the range of “Poor’ based on the pre evaluation of Literacy & Numeracy Programme.  
  3. Children identified by school teachers as poor readers
  4. Students from families with a per capita income of $1000* and below
    *(Total nett salaries of household members divide by the total household members
