SIMM – SINDA Scholarship


ABOUT

SCHOLARSHIP


Singapore Institute of Materials Management (SIMM) is a non-profit organization offering scholarships as a way of support for the materials management industry.

The SIMM – SINDA scholarships are offered to candidates who are interested in doing a part-time course at SIMM. This year, a total of four scholarships will be offered for the Certificate and Diploma course.

Courses Course Objectives Entry Requirements
Diploma in Logistics Management (DLM) This course aims to equip executives and junior managers at corporate level, with the knowledge and techniques of logistics and trade operations, purchasing and production planning and warehousing for effective management of their organisations. Applicant must have at least 5 GCE ‘O’ Levels or a Certificate from any recognised institution.

Those without the pre-requisites but have substantial working experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

Intake 1 & Duration: 1 year,
Apr 2017 – April 2018

Closing Date:
All forms should reach us by Thursday, 31 Mar 2017.

Intake 2 & Duration: 1 year,
Jun 2017 – Jun 2018

Closing Date: All forms should reach us by 20th May 2017

Certificate in Logistics and Distribution Management (LDM) This course will provide participants the tools and techniques essential in the management of the logistics function. Appropriate for warehouse executives, storekeepers, production planners, freight forwarders, shipping executives, buyers, supervisory executives in warehouse and distribution functions. Applicants should possess 3 GCE ‘O’ levels (any subject with grade 1-8) or equivalent qualification.

Participants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Mature candidates with working experience (If candidates do not meet minimum entry requirement, they can still be considered if they have at least 2 years of working experience)

 

Intake 1 & Duration:
2.5 months,
Feb 2017 – 27 Apr 2018

Closing Date:
All forms should reach us by,
1st Feb 2017.

Intake 2 & Duration: 2.5 months,
May 2017 – Jul 2018 (Wed, 7pm to 10pm)

Closing Date:
All forms should reach us by, 25th April 2017

 

Note:

  • All scholarships entail Tuition Fee only(excluding bridging module fee, non-tuition fee, supplementary exam fee, re-module fee) for the entire duration of the course.
  • Successful candidates are required to pay the membership entrance and subscription fee.
  • Scholarship is only tenable for the specific period of study. Should the student decide to drop out, or defer, the Scholarship will be voided and the student has to repay the quantum of Scholarship.
  • Candidates are required to volunteer their time with SINDA or Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET) during their duration of their course and a student deed would need to be signed with SINDA.

 

Processing Time

  • You are required to apply for the scholarship within the deadline indicated above, regardless of course intake period.
  • You may only start your course, after receiving the scholarship offer. All scholarships are subject to approval.
  • Processing time takes about 3 weeks – 4 weeks after the closing date.
  • Only successful candidates will be informed of the outcome by SINDA and SAA.

ELGIBILITY


  • The applicant or any one parent of the applicant is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident belonging to an Indian sub-ethnic group.
  • The combined monthly household income will be taken into consideration
  • Applicants must meet entry requirements to the selected course of study as set by SIMM
  • Selection of candidates will be based on the following criteria:
    • Academic Ability
    • Competence
    • Attitude
    • Meeting Course Requirements

PROCESS


  1. Visit SIMM Institute,9 Ah Hood Road, #04-06 EASB Building Singapore 329975 and speak with a course consultant, do mention that you will be applying for the SIMM-SINDA Scholarship.
  2. Ask consultant if there are any bridging modules you need to take up in order to start your Diploma or Degree course.(Please note that fees for bridging modules are not included in the Scholarship).
  3. Get a letter of offer / a letter of eligibility from SIMM and then download SINDA scholarship application form (Register now button).
