SINDA Digital Day – Coding Competition for Children

ABOUT

Programme

This September holidays, SINDA will be having its first SINDA Digital Day! As part of this Digital Day, we will be having a coding competition for children.

In this competition, participants will be introduced to simple coding concepts by coding Sphero BOLT robots in a beginner-friendly block-based programming language. Using a tablet, participants will control the robots to navigate a maze.

The Sphero BOLT is an app-enabled robotic ball that provides endless opportunities to have fun while learning. You can program with the Sphero Edu app, discover community-created activities or just drive and play. BOLT was built to shine with an animated 8×8 LED Matrix, which displays real-time data and advanced sensors.

Participants should have some programming/coding knowledge

Participants in this competition will even get to win attractive prizes!!

There will be a parenting talk at the same time (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) while your children are attending the workshop.

Topic: Responsible Limit Setting on IT-related usage for Children and Teens

In this workshop, parents will learn skills pertaining to:

  • Preventive teaching with children to set acceptable limits on IT-related usage.
  • Corrective teaching with children and teens if they do not comply with parents’ instructions on IT-related usage.
  • Teaching self-control to children and teens so that they can regulate personal emotions and feelings if parents impose consequences limiting their IT usage.

Refreshments will be served after the programme.
