ABOUT

STEP Programme

The Science Centre’s wide ranges of science enrichment programmes have been popular for many years. The programs aim to complement the school science curriculum with hands-on and inspiring learning experiences.

DNA Workshop – DNA and Us
4 September 2018, Tuesday

Be a scientist at the Science Centre Singapore as you discover about DNA and extract DNA from a plant. You will also get to make a DNA model to bring home as souvenir!

Bacteria & Health
5 September 2018, Tuesday

Abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting… More patients are turning up at the hospital with similar symptoms. It seems like a case of foodborne outbreak. What is the source of the outbreak? Which type of bacteria is causing the outbreak? Take on the role of a medical investigator and help us in this race against time to solve the outbreak before more people are infected!

Kitchen Science Workshop – A Jam Session (Making Strawberry Jam)
16 October 2018, Tuesday

Almost everyone loves to eat strawberries but many do not know enough about this fruit and plant. Students will learn about the different parts of a flower, how fertilisation takes place and to compare the three main groups of fruits. At the end, they will get their hands dirty in the process of making strawberry jam that is soft, easy to spread and delicious.

DNA is often described as the most important molecule of life which determines how livings things look like and how they function.  Ever wanted to see this extraordinary molecule?
