APU – SINDA Scholarship



The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) has partnered with SINDA to offer ‘APU Scholarships’ in Degree courses to suitable candidates to study at APU in Beppu, Japan



APU Scholarship

  • APU will offer a Tuition Reduction Scholarship to students admitted on recommendation of SINDA ranging from a minimum amount of 30% reduction to a maximum 100% based on the student’s scores and application.
  • SIET agrees to provide interest free study loan of up to S$24,000 for four years to cover remaining tuition fees, living costs, the enrollment fee, and transportation.

Intake Period to Japan

  • For April 2020 intake – Application closing date is 1st October 2019

Courses Offered

  1. Bachelor of Social Sciences (College of Asia Pacific Studies)
  2. Bachelor of Business Administration (College of International Management)

The Scholarship does not cover the following:

  • Airfare to and from Japan
  • Application fee
  • Admissions fee
  • Lodging
  • Insurance
  • Daily Expenses

  • There is no bond attached to the award.
  • Students are required to volunteer their time after their studies, at SINDA or Singapore Indian Education Trust (SIET) for a period of 24 days, over 2 years.
  • Students will be required to sign a Student Deed with SINDA.

Processing Time:

  • Processing time takes about 3 to 4 weeks after the closing date.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be notified of the interview dates with SINDA.
  • Only successful candidates will be informed of the outcome by SINDA.
  • All scholarships are subject to approval.
  • You may only start your course, after receiving the scholarship offer.


  • Successful students are advised to take up Basic Japanese(spoken) before leaving for Japan in April 2019 and this is not covered by this scholarship
  • Application fee of 5000 YEN (approx. SGD$60 to $70 but subject to currency rates at the point of time) is applicable for all applications.
  • Scholarship is only tenable for the specific period of study. Should the student decide to drop out, or defer, the Scholarship will be voided and the student has to re-pay the quantum of Scholarship.



  • Must be a  Singapore Citizen (no dual citizenship in Japan)
  • Must be either Indian or have one parent belonging to an Indian sub-ethnic group
  • Having a background of community work is a plus
  • Must not currently be receiving any other similar scholarships
  • Applicants with a minimum of 3 or more “C” grades at GCE ‘A’ Level, or with Polytechnic Diploma holders
