Guidance and Mentorship Programme (GAME)
GAME is a group-based mentoring programme that is aimed at supporting the development of Indian youth aged between 13 to 16 years who may be at risk of being disengaged from school and appear to have self-esteem issues.
Objectives
- To engage Indian youth in meaningful activities with mentors who can provide friendship, support, and guidance to them
- To equip Indian youth with skills that will empower them to make meaningful life choices and improve their performance in school
Programme Description
- Youth will engage in an enrichment activity, through which mentorship is infused, once a month, for a period of 6 months
- Youth will have weekly contact with mentors via emails, phone calls and text messaging
- 3 Indian youth will be matched to 2 volunteer mentors (group-based mentoring)
- Holistic assistance: Youth will be introduced to other SINDA programmes and services as deemed necessary
Target Group
- Indian youth aged 13 to 16.
Criteria
- A referral is required to be sent in by the school counselor of the youth’s current school / Family Service Centre caseworker if youth is being seen at a Family Service Centre
Trained & Qualified Volunteers
- Training sessions are conducted to equip our volunteers with the necessary skills set before they are introduced to the youth
Enhanced Programme
- Structured programme for 6 months supported by Positive Youth Development and Social Emotional Learning frameworks
Provision of Resource Materials
- Each child will be given a Reflections Book to pen down thoughts on the activities and lessons learnt
Evaluation to assess participant’s performance
- Pre and Post evaluation to track participant’s qualitative performance
