SINDA’s Tuition and Reading programmes aim to improve the performance of primary and secondary Indian students in core subjects such as English, Mathematics and Science.

We are looking for highly committed and qualified Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents to join us to motivate, guide and inspire under-performing students to excel in their studies.

We are looking for :

1. Primary and Secondary Tutors (Teach & STEP Programmes)

STEP Programme is conducted in the evenings (according to MOE academic       calendar) with each subject being offered one to two sessions per week.

Requirements:

NIE trained teachers, NIE trainees, retired teachers and adjunct teachers preferred

Permanent Residents must have minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Singapore in a MOE school or recognised private institution
arrow_2.gif Professionals and tertiary lecturers in relevant fields such as Engineering and Sciences with a minimum of 3 years formal tutoring/teaching experience in Singapore are also welcome to apply
arrow_2.gif For Primary level, ability to teach Primary 3 Science (New syllabus) would be an added advantage
arrow_2.gif Able to commit one academic year (January - October 2010)
arrow_2.gif Able to connect and communicate with children and youth who need extra help and support to improve in their academic performance
arrow_2.gif Able to commit at least 2-4 hours per term to attend training workshops and briefings conducted at HQ

2. Facilitators for Programme RISE (for lower Primary in Teach & STEP)

Requirements:

Flexible Teaching Hours (Weekdays/Weekend – during school hours or evening)

NIE trained or Experienced Facilitators familiar with the MOE Syllabus
arrow_2.gif NIE- trainees (for evening/Saturday assignments)
arrow_2.gif Graduates in teaching subjects from recognised universities with at least 2 yrs of tutoring experience
arrow_2.gif Able to commit 2-6 hours per week from February to October 2010
arrow_2.gif For Reading Programme - Candidates must have experience in teaching Reading, Phonics and Drama

3. Centre Principals at STEP Learning Centres (Weekday Evenings)

 Responsibilities:

Overseeing the administration of the Centre

Maintaining discipline among students
arrow_2.gif Monitoring tutors and teaching programmes as well as coordinating enrichment activities
arrow_2.gif Maintaining high standards at STEP Centres through effective supervision, regular evaluation and appraisal of the Centre Personnel
arrow_2.gif Establishing cordial and regular communications with school personnel and parents

Requirements:

Possess at least a degree from a recognised University, preferably in education and/or social service related fields
 
arrow_2.gif
Preferred current /retired/ex- School HODs, or with at least 5 years’ supervisory experience
arrow_2.gif Self-motivated team leader with strong interpersonal and communication skills
arrow_2.gif Passion for education and enjoys interacting with youth and children
arrow_2.gif Able to commit 3 evenings a week from 7.00 – 9.00 pm (January to October 2010)
arrow_2.gif Able to commit at least 2-4 hours per term to attend workshops and meetings conducted at HQ

4. Centre Administrators at STEP Learning Centres (Weekday Evenings)

Responsibilities:

In-charge of all administrative matters for the STEP Centre

Assist and support the Centre Principal to organise and coordinate programmes for both students and parents
arrow_2.gif Liase with HQ staff on administrative and financial matters where required
arrow_2.gif Submit reports and data as and when requested by HQ
arrow_2.gif Maintain up-to-date records on tutor particulars and students

 Requirements:

Strong administrative background and preferably be employed in a similar field
 
arrow_2.gif
Strong IT skills and able to prepare spreadsheets and reports for online submission to HQ
arrow_2.gif Have initiative, be independent and able to meet tight deadlines
arrow_2.gif Good communication and interpersonal skills (to liase with parents and tutors)
arrow_2.gif Able to commit 3 times a week from 6.45 – 9.00 pm (January to October 2010)
arrow_2.gif Able to commit at least 2-4 hours per semester to attend workshops and orientation sessions conducted at HQ
