In order to improve the computer literacy of Indians, SINDA implemented a new programme today which aims to provide training in basic IT and the internet. The new programme , " Win IT" aims to improve their basic computer and internet skills.

In the past, many local Indians who keen on learning about computers were not sure where or how to go about learning the skill. Some Indians were also unable to afford a personal computer and were thus deprived of the opportunity to learn. This is the reason for implementing "Win IT".

42 housewives, students and retirees and those from the Worker Assistance Programme who had not had any experience with computers will also participate in the programme .

"Win IT" programme consists of a 3 hour session which teaches basic computer and internet. The cost is $15 per person and a $30 for a family comprising parents and 2 children.

At least 200 families are expected to register for the programme . More advanced lessons may be conducted at a later stage to accommodate Indians who already have basic computer skills. All lessons will be conducted in the computer labs in SINDA.

Should you know of any Indians families or neighbors, you may inform them of this new programme . You can call the SINDA Helpline at 1800-2954554.
