Around 300 parents and 200 children attended the MOE-SINDA Parents Seminar, held on 7 April, at SINDA whereby educational experts shared their experience and thoughts on how parents could prepare their children for Primary School.

Ms Azizah Ismaun, Principal of Jing Shan Primary School, presented an overview of the Primary School educational landscape and the P1 registration process. Ms Teh Wan, Vice Principal of Townsville Primary School spoke on how parents could create a love for Mathematics in their child, and weave in Mathematics into their everyday lives.

While the parents were attending the seminar, their children under the age of 8, were meaningfully engaged through mini experiential science workshops. The children were introduced to basic scientific concepts through the activities such as popcorn making, origami making and balloon sculpting. Participants were also treated to a sumptuous buffet lunch, courtesy of SINDA.

Jointly organized by the Parents Division and Nascans, the seminar received positive feedback from parents:

“It was a good seminar that answered my doubts regarding the education system in Singapore. Thank you SINDA for organizing this event.”- Mr Sameer Ahmed

“I learnt a lot from the seminar like concepts, methods and also ways to teach children in an engaging and productive manner. I am also much more aware of the P1 registration process.”- Mrs Komathi

It was an enlightening and eventful morning indeed, for the parents who left equipped with knowledge and skills to help their children through their educational journey.
