The annual Narpani-SINDA Family Day, held on Sunday 22 April, provided an opportunity for the Indian community, new citizens and permanent residents alike, to come together and forge closer ties through fun games and activities.

Over 6,000 participants enthusiastically gathered with their family members at Pasir Ris Downtown East to attend the event. The Family Day was organised by the People’s Association Indian Activity Executive Committees Council (PA Narpani Pearavai) together with the Indian Activity Executive Committees (IAECs) in the South East District, and SINDA.

Besides the myriad game stalls, highlights included a family telematch, entertainment items, and quizzes hosted by Vasantham artistes. The occasion was also a showcase for SINDA’s programmes and services. Mr Raja Segar, SINDA’s CEO, reiterated the importance of education and the role of parents. He added, “This is an excellent platform for the Indian community to mingle, network and come together.” SINDA also conducted useful talks for parents and games and quizzes for students.

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources was Guest-of-Honour at the Family Day this year.
