Befrienders is a volunteer driven family mentorship programme aimed at reaching out to families requiring long term assistance and providing them with support, reassurance and offer a listening ear to them. This moral support will help families build their self-esteem.

Objective

To reach out to families on long term assistance from FSC or referrals & provide them with the necessary holistic assistance.

Programme Description

• Matched to a family living within a close proximity
• Attached to the family for a period of 6 months.
• During this period, the Befriender will contact the family at least once a fortnight via telephone, sms or home visits. Befrienders will make at least 1 home visit a month.

Target Group

• Singaporean low-income families who require long term assistance.
• Family must include at least 1 school going child.

Qualified Volunteers

• Training sessions are conducted to equip our volunteers with the necessary skills set before they are deployed.
