Programming helps kids understand the basic principles of computer science, which underpins our digital world. It allows children to be digitally ready and prepares them to fully embrace technology and keep pace with technological advancements of today and the future.
The skills that come with programming will aid children in enhancing their creative thinking, logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, further supporting their literacy and numeracy skills.
This preview workshop will also engage parents in interactive off-screen activities to understand the basic concepts of programming and they will have a chance to perform the same activities on-screen using ScratchJr application, to get a look and feel of why this kind of engagement is so beneficial for the kids.
The workshop will use ScratchJR, which is a child-friendly programming language. Using the ScratchJr application, children will learn to create their own collages, animated stories and games. It helps them in understanding basic algorithmic concepts of programming, sequencing and creating basic animations, all without having to learn syntax. Many off-screen activities will be included to ensure that learning is not limited to the screen.
Registration will be on ‘first come first serve’ basis.
