Employees – Frequently Asked Questions

Is contribution to the SINDA Fund mandatory?

Yes, all employees (including full-time, casual, part-time, temporary staff) are required to contribute to SINDA Fund.

Why should I contribute to the SINDA Fund?

Each Self-Help Group (SHG) is set up to help less-privileged individuals in its respective community. As a SHG, SINDA works hand-in-hand with a wide network of stakeholders to uplift Singaporean Indians. Your contribution as a member of the community will help to improve the lives of in-need children, students, youths, families and the elderly.

How does SINDA utilise my contributions?

SINDA channels your contributions towards a wide range of programmes and assistance schemes for those in need. These include tuition and enrichment for children, motivational programmes for youths, support to in-need families and elderly support. These groups of people also benefit from financial help if they are from low-income backgrounds.

Are contributions to SINDA Fund tax deductible?

Yes, SINDA is an Institute of Public Character (IPC) and there will be a 2.5 times tax exemption for contributions.

What should I do if I wish to discontinue my SINDA Fund contribution?

We strongly encourage you to consider contributing to the SINDA Fund to help in-need members of the community. However, should you still wish to reduce your contribution to a lesser amount or opt out of your contribution, please complete the digital notification form by clicking the link on this page to notify SINDA and your employer.

What is the validity period of the processed SINDA Fund form?

A processed SINDA Fund form is valid throughout your employment with the same employer. In the event of a change in employer, you are required to submit a new form, should you wish to reduce or opt out of your SINDA Fund contribution.

If I previously opted out and wish to resume contributions, what should I do?

Inform your HR department to resume deductions from the next payroll cycle. No form is required.

Do I need to contribute during no-pay leave?

No, contributions are not required during periods when no salary is received.

Can I request for a letter from SINDA for the contributions I have made?

Your contribution statement may be available from your company’s HR department. SINDA does not have purview over individual contributions, as we receive only collated information from the CPF Board. Hence, we are unable to provide a letter or certificate stating an employee’s individual contribution to the SINDA Fund.
