What is STEM Imprints?
This 12-week series is specially curated for three age groups (preschoolers, lower primary and upper primary students) with age-appropriate learning experiences that progressively build STEM knowledge and skills.
Through sustained engagement, hands-on practice and application, children will move from foundational concepts to more advanced applications, while developing confidence, computational thinking and problem-solving skills. For primary school students, the series also introduces social impact projects, empowering them to apply STEM skills to identify real-world challenges and develop solutions.
Through onsite workshops and engaging activities tailored to each age group, children will learn to apply what they learn to create, explore and solve real-world challenges. All materials and devices will be provided throughout the workshops.
Learning Objectives
- For pre-schoolers (ages 4–6), the programmes introduce coding through storytelling and tangible play. These sessions nurture creativity, build communication skills, and lay the foundation for logical reasoning
- For lower primary students (ages 7–9,) the programme includes social impact projects, applying basic coding to solve real-world problems/challenges
- For upper primary students (ages 10–12), the programme allows students to apply user interface design and programming logic to design real-world projects that create social impact
Programme for Pre-schoolers
The KUBO Robotics curriculum immerses students in coding and computational thinking through engaging hands-on activities consisting of the following digital competencies covered across 12 weeks:
Computational Thinking & Algorithmic Sequencing
- Students learn to break tasks into step- by-step instructions using TagTiles®, building the foundation for logical reasoning and coding.
Directional Coding & Spatial Reasoning
- Using movement TagTiles® to programme KUBO, students develop spatial awareness, directional thinking and map navigation.
Pattern Recognition, Loops & Functions
- Students identify repeating patterns and use loop and function tiles to programme repeated sequences - mirroring real coding constructs.
Subroutines & Modular Problem-Solving
- Children create and combine subroutines within function tiles, introducing modular thinking, code reuse and structured planning.
Debugging & Systematic Problem-Solving
- Students learn how to debug KUBO's routes - identifying, isolating and correcting errors.
Programme for Lower Primary Children
The micro:bit is a beginner-friendly programmable device designed for hands-on coding experiences. It introduces block-based programming, JavaScript, and Python, allowing students to create interactive solutions for real-world problems, covering the following digital competencies spanned across 12 weeks:
Block-Based Coding & Event-Driven Programming
- Students use Microsoft MakeCode's environment to write event-driven programmes
Physical Computing & Sensor Integration
- Harness the Micro:bit's built-in sensors - accelerometer, light, temperature, compass - to build interactive hardware projects.
Variables, Loops & Conditional Logic
- Apply core programming constructs (variables, forever/repeat/while loops, if- else statements and math operations) to solve real coding challenges.
Wireless Communication & Radio Networking
- Transmit data between multiple Micro:bit devices using radio signals, introducing concepts of networking, IoT and wireless systems.
Science Applications & Data Exploration
- Micro:bit is used as a scientific instrument, Morse code communicator and soil moisture detector
Social Impact Design Thinking & Community Problem-Solving
- Apply design thinking to identify real community challenges and build technology solutions (devices/gadgets) that benefit families and seniors.
Programme for Upper Primary Children
Through the MIT App Inventor programming platform, students use drag-and-drop blocks to build apps that incorporate sensors, databases, multimedia, GPS, and cloud services. MIT App Inventor fosters problem-solving skills, creativity, and real-world application development, making it an excellent starting point for young coders.
User Interface (UI/UX) Design & Mobile App Development
- Students design and build fully functional Android and iOS apps, applying UI/UX principles for clean, responsive and user-friendly interfaces
Variables, Loops & Conditional Logic
- Apply core programming constructs (variables, forever/repeat/while loops, if- else statements and math operations) to solve real coding challenges.
Media, GPS & Sensor Integration
- Integrate audio, video, animations, GPS location, text-to-speech and speech-to- text to build rich, interactive multi-screen applications
Database Management & Cloud Storage
- Store and retrieve data using TinyDB (local) and Firebase / Google Sheets / Airtable (cloud),introducing real-time data management and persistence
API Integration, AI & Machine Learning
- Fetch live data via Web APIs. Incorporate AI features - face detection, image recognition
Design Thinking & Community Impact App Development
- Apply computational thinking and design thinking to develop apps with social purpose

This programme is fully subsidised for eligible participants with a family PCI of $1,600 and below.
Open to children aged 4 to 12 who are Singaporean Citizens or Permanent Residents with a family PCI of $1,600 and below.
