Mr Anbarasu Rajendran, Justice of the Peace

Chief Executive Officer

 

Mr Anbarasu Rajendran, affectionately known as Mr Anbu, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA), a leading Self-Help Group committed to empowering communities and transforming lives. Additionally, he serves as the Executive Director of the SINDA Family Service Centre.

 

Since 2018, Mr Anbu has been instrumental in advancing SINDA’s mission, delivering comprehensive support and innovative solutions to the community. Under his leadership, SINDA has broadened its reach and impact significantly through strategic initiatives that address critical social issues. His dedication to fostering inclusive growth has led to numerous successful programmes and partnerships, uplifting many individuals and families.

 

With over 30 years of experience in education, grassroots, and social service, Mr Anbu brings extensive knowledge and expertise to his role. He deeply understands the challenges faced by vulnerable populations and advocates for systemic change that promotes equity and social good.

 

Prior to joining SINDA, Mr Anbu held key leadership positions in the Ministry of Education, including roles as a school leader and Director of the MOE Language Centre. He is known for his innovative approach and collaborative spirit, consistently driving excellence and positive outcomes.

 

As Chief Executive of SINDA, Mr Anbu also serves in advisory capacities across various government bodies, educational institutions, and community organisations.

 

A passionate advocate for continuous learning and development, Mr Anbu holds a Bachelor of Arts with first-class distinction and a Master of Arts in Educational Management from the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. He also has professional diplomas in Education (Distinction) and Departmental Management.

 

Mr Anbu’s inspiring journey and unwavering dedication to community service have earned him recognition and accolades, including the prestigious appointment in 2023 as Justice of the Peace, conferred by the Eighth President of Singapore, Her Excellency Mdm Halimah Yacob, and the “Commendation Medal” (Pingat Kepujian) in 2015 as part of the National Day Awards.

 

His leadership continues to propel SINDA towards a future of greater impact and lasting change.

 

 

Mr Ganesh Kalyanam

Chief Operating Officer

 

Mr Ganesh Kalyanam was appointed Chief Operating Officer of SINDA in May 2025.

 

Mr Ganesh is no stranger to SINDA, having previously helmed Youth and Volunteer Management at the organisation in the early 2000s.

 

Prior to rejoining SINDA, he spent over 20 years at Republic Polytechnic, where he served as Director, Office of Student and Alumni Affairs. He focused on nurturing both students and staff to reach for their unique potential, passion and vision.

 

Mr Ganesh is a Justice of the Peace, often seen solemnising weddings for family, friends and alumni over the weekends. He also volunteers on the Board of Visitors (DRC) Prisons, serves as a District Councillor for the South East CDC, and is actively involved with several other arts, youth and community organisations.

 

Mr Ganesh Kalyanam PPA (P), JP, is a Fulbright Scholar, dedicated educator, award-winning media professional and passionate community builder, especially in the areas of youth development and social cohesion.

 

 

 

Ms Shereen Farzana  B.Eng., FCCA, CA (Singapore)

Chief Operating Officer

 

Ms Shereen was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of SINDA in January 2026.

 

With over 14 years of experience, she has a strong background in overseeing Strategic Planning, Finance, Audit, Procurement, and Research functions. She provides strategic guidance to the Management team and drives organisation-wide initiatives aimed at strengthening quality, improving efficiencies, enhancing internal controls, and advancing continuous process improvements. She also oversees Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) ensuring a robust risk management framework.

 

Prior to joining SINDA, Ms Shereen served as Head of School Operations, where she provided strategic leadership in managing facilities management, staff, and students, streamlining workflows, and ensuring the effective execution of core functions.

 

Ms Shereen is a member of the REACH Advisory Panel, working alongside the Members of Parliament, community leaders, and professionals to drive initiatives that strengthen community connections. Driven by her passion for serving the community, she has been an active volunteer with various organisations, supporting tutoring and home-visit programmes for low-income families to better understand their needs and extend meaningful support. She also serves as a volunteer Board member with charities, contributing her extensive finance, audit, and management expertise to provide strategic direction and uphold strong governance practices. Additionally, she has served on the Young Professionals Advisory Committee at ISCA, where she helped develop and implement initiatives to engage young members and promote integration within the Institute.

 

Academically, Ms Shereen holds a B.Eng honours degree in Electronics & Communication, first class honours with distinction. She is also a Chartered Accountant (Singapore) and has achieved remarkable accolades including a national rank of 12th in Singapore for ACCA. She was also a prize winner for ACCA papers like Singapore Taxation, Financial Reporting and Audit and Assurance both at Singapore and worldwide levels.

 

With her strong professional expertise and dedication to community involvement, she plays a crucial role in driving the organisation’s success.
